Businesses Shift Focus to B2B Social Media in 2010

I am happy to announce a timely shift in Businesses who are now seriously looking at social media as a huge potential for marketing and churning profits out of the same. According to recent reports, business-to-business (B2B) spending on social media is set to increase dramatically over the next few years.

I’ve been optimistic of the rise of social media amongst B2B marketeers and had written a post called “Why Should B2B Marketers Absorb Social Media?” I clearly stated that B2B marketers will realize they can use social media to generate quality leads and to position themselves as thought leaders in their industries.

The latest news, I’ve got from my fellow B2B marketers is that they will be focusing, current online spend on customer communities, podcasts and blogs. They also plan to invest a small proportion of their social spending on Paid advertising on social networks—banners, text ads and search advertising, as well as the more targeted advertising on Facebook and MySpace. Our expectation is that when companies budget for social media marketing in 2010, emphasis of brands on B2B social media will definitely increase.
