Comscore has released a report that measure social networking engagement across countries in Asia Pacific (excluding china). The statistics make for interesting reading.
Check the chart below which shows the percentage of internet users using social networking, their number of visits and time spent.
As you can see the engagement is roughly 2 and a half hours per month and around 20+ visits a month. Bear in mind that comscore does not track public computers like cyber cafe’s. So this number will surely be higher in reality.
The clear leader in social networking across the asia pacific is facebook. See the chart below:
India is still lead by orkut.com but its on its way down as many reports suggest.
The growth numbers of social networking is phenomenal. Keep in mind this doesnt include numbers for media sharing social media sites youtube and others which may up both the times spent and the visits per month. None the less the numbers are impressive and show how the asia pacific region seems to be growing exponentially.
